THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET

HONG KONG EXTRAVAGANZA 2012 - CRAIG LAWRENCE

The HONG KONG FASHION EXTRAVAGANZA 2012 show will feature the spectacular collections of four world-renowned fashion designers. Risto Bimbiloski from Paris reflects his search of inner “East-West” balance in his designs; London star Craig Lawrence will showcase his avant-garde knitwear; Shanghai’s award-winning Qi Gang believes fashion beauty lies in extremes. And Hidy Ng, one of Hong Kong’s top designers, will unveil a brand new collection for modern and sophisticated women.

The Collectives Showroom has helped out with inviting Craig Lawrence to the fashion show. Craig Lawrence graduated from Central Saint Martins after working with Gareth Pugh for six seasons producing knitwear for his collections. He has since gone on to continue innovating in the field of knitwear creating contemporary womenswear collection backed by The British Fashion Council’s NewGen initiative now receiving this sponsorship for the sixth season for Spring/Summer 2012.

Heres are some bits and pieces from the show :

INTRODUCING SERENI & SHENTEL

The Collectives is excited to have SERENI  & SHENTEL joining the family :)

Excited to be attending a Lady Gaga concert in Singapore in October 2009, Sereni and Shentel thought it only fitting to make an effort to dress up a little out of the ordinary - a homage to the Lady herself.

The girls jumped online in search of appropriate head gear and found head bands embellished with pussy cat bows and beads, not quite as eccentric as Gaga’s hair moulded bows propped on top of her head, but more wearable by the more humble mortal.

When the parcel arrived and the girls excitedly plucked them out of the box, they discovered the head bands were so poorly constructed, they literally fell apart within minutes. Devastated and only hours to go before they had to depart, they decided to salvage the situation and create their own.

They arrived like true fans decked in Gaga T’-shirts and head gear ready to party. It turned out that Lady Gaga was not the only one drawing attention that night. Sereni and Shentel soon found themselves surrounded with fans of their own. Like true devotees swamped around the memorabilia stand wanting to take a little piece of the night home with them, concert goers found themselves drawn to the girls wanting to know where they could buy the head bands.

Both girls live in Kuching, Malaysia where Sereni a Business Development Manager was born and Shentel, an Autralian born and bred graphic designer for cosmetic packaging, moved to since she married 2 years ago.

Unlike other aspiring designers, Sereni and Shenel, without intention, found themselves in the spotlight and in demand for their product. And so the Sereni and Shentel brand was conceived and appropriately named. The rest is history as they say, or rather the start of a new career.

In less than two years, they have shot to fame with their brand as well as themselves appearing in Harper’s BAZZAR, GLAM, Bride to Be Australia, CLEO, FAMOUS, NW, Malaysian Woman’s Weekly, Singapore STYLE gracing the covers of Malaysian Tatler and appearing in Singapore Tatler, Blogs and Malaysian Breakfast TV show Ntv7. The girls have collaborated with Lancome and Miss Universe Malaysia.

They are both still pursuing their intended professions, as well as their accidental one.
